The original image that brought the world to its knees was a poignant reminder of how fragile the human life is. It was also a reminder of how beautiful things were after 9/11. Patriotism was at an all time high and on every street, every house, every business, every shirt lapel and on every car bumper was a reminder that this was America and we would NOT be held down. The more famous image of the Falling Man, with its lines and simplicity, was a beautiful image. Just that one frame, in its stillness and peacefulness, to me, has become an anthem to which I can say that the people who suffered so horribly and for so long are finally at peace, as that picture frame appears to show. Perhaps I don’t care for the image above as much as the other because it proves to me that the Falling Man was not an angel as my mind sees him, racing to save a soul but in fact a regular victim of the attacks and suffering himself.
