Punxsutawney Phil…

Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow once again. The groundhog predicted six more weeks of winter, but since Groundhog Day’s high temperature was meant to be 48 degrees, you can hardly complain.

Punxsutawney is a Pennslyvanian town of about 6, 100 people. Every February 2nd, thousands of people come to participate in the Groundhog Day celebration. The celebration is based on a German tradition that if a hibernating animal casts a shadow on Feb. 2nd, winter will last another six weeks. According to the Groundhog Club, in the last 119 years, Phil has seen his shadow 96 times and hasn’t seen it 14 times. There are no records for the other nine years.
